Private Practice Modalities Used
in Addition to Clinical Psychotherapeutic Techniques

Body-Mind Modalities (Hands-On Healing)

Most of us tend to think of our bodies and our minds as separate systems and believe they function independently and hence we treat them separately. The reality is they need to be considered as a single whole. There is a very real mind body connection which influences our lives. Every part of the body is the mind expressing itself. Our body actually speaks our mind and expresses our feelings. Throughout our lifetime, stress, memories and emotions get stored in our bodies. Some become holdings or tensions. The latest research is now confirming this profound interrelationship between our body-mind-emotions-and spirit.

Rubenfeld Synergy Method (RSM)
The Rubenfeld Synergy Method (RSM) is a healing modality which combines touch and talk together to help people deal with the stresses in their lives. It uses the body as the starting point, because the body is home to our thoughts, our feelings, and our spirit. By exploring these relationships, we can claim a greater role in our own physical and emotional wellness.

Through the Rubenfeld Synergy Method, clients learn to be in touch with their bodymind. Through gentle touch and reflective listening, RSM offers pathways to deep emotion, connection, creativity, and self-awareness. The listening touch of RSM becomes the gateway to emotional awareness and taps the inner resources necessary for inner healing and personal well-being.

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, through a combination of classical yoga techniques and elements of contemporary body-mind psychology, encourages a deeper connection with self.

A Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy session is a one-on-one hands-on healing process. Through assisted yoga postures and non-directive dialogue, practitioners guide clients to experience the connection of their physical and emotional selves. Using focused breathing, this connection is held and explored, fostering release, personal growth and healing.

Reiki Healing
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are capable of being happy and healthy.

Trauma Modalities

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a form of psychotherapy that was developed to resolve symptoms resulting from disturbing and unresolved life experiences. It uses a structured approach to address past, present and future aspects of disturbing memories. The approach was developed to resolve the development of trauma-related disorders resulting from exposure to traumatic or distressing events.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
EFT is an alternative intervention and psychotherapy technique, described as “energy psychology”. EFT has the goal of desensitization, and utilizes the tapping of acupuncture points while a client focuses on a specific issue. This technique can be used to treat a range of emotional issues, especially trauma.
